All the configurations of clear quartz can be applied to Amethyst. There are also amethyst points with inclussions like cacoxenite and goethite. Pieces containing goethite are often called "rutilated" but actually are just goethite needles
Amethyst can also be combined with smokey quartz, citrine and hematite producing variations in the overall colour of the points

Amethyst is was cosidered protective by the Arabs and place under the pillows to prevent nightmares. The greeks drank alcohol in amethyst vessels believing it will stop them from getting drunk. Considered the Baccus stone. Hildergard von Bingen in the middle ages, recomended it for improving the skin and as protection agains snakebite. Konrad von Megenberg recomended it to drive away bad thoughts. Presently many crystal therapists recomd it to boost powers of concentration, for its calming effect on the heart and nerves, for insomnia and migraine when stroked against the temples
Melody in her book "Love is in the Earth" attributes to the stone the ability to balance intellectual, emotional and physical bodies, clear the aura, transmutting redundant energy and "the peace being the perfect peace which was present prior to birth"
Others say that it enhances communication between realms, feeling more grounded, overcoming adictions and generaly speaking calming the nervous system
My personal experiences with Amethyst have always been good, being one of the crystals I will not do without. I love the colours, the energy and the feel good feeling I get from it
